‘Santa’ cops ‘di na makikita sa malls ngayong Pasko

MANILA – Wala ng pulis na nakasuot ng costume ni Santa Claus ang makikita sa mga malls ngayong panahon ng Kapaskuhan. Sa halip, mas pinaraming unipormadong pulis ang masisilayan ng mga mamimili.

Ayon kay National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Roberto Rosales, napagdesisyunan na alisin ang mga “Santa cops" upang hindi samantalahin ng mga kriminal ang costume ni Santa Claus sa paggawa ng krimen ngayong Pasko.

“Puwede kasing gayahin ‘yan ng mga kriminal (pagsuot ng damit ni Santa Claus)," paliwanag ni Rosales sa ipinadalang text message sa GMANews.TV.

May nakahanda na umanong security plan ang NCRPO ngayong Kapaskuhan para bantayan ang mga establisimyento at protektahan ang publiko sa mga matataong lugar tulad ng mga shopping mall at hotel.

“Lahat naman ‘yan babantayan namin para masiguradong ligtas tayo ngayong Kapaskuhan," pahayag ng opisyal.

Tiniyak naman ng opisyal ng Eastern Police District (EPD) na paiigtingin ang kanilang seguridad sa nasasakupan upang bantayan ang mga matataong lugar partikular ang apat na malalaking shopping malls at hotel sa Mandaluyong City.

Nakipagpulong nitong Miyerkules si EPD Director Chief Supt. Benjardi Mantele sa mga security officers at personnel ng mga pangunahing malls at hotels sa Mandaluyong City para ilatag ang kanilang security plans.

Sinabi ni Mantele na karaniwang tumataas ng 15 hanggang 25 porsiyento ang naitatalang krimen kapag panahon ng kapaskuhan.

“We want to prevent another incident like that in Greenbelt 5 where the Alvin Flores gang made a bold move to rob a Rolex store inside the mall," patungkol ni Mantele sa pagsalakay ng robbery group sa isang tindahan ng mamahaling relo sa mall sa Makati noong nakaraang buwan.

Bukod sa maglalagay ng public assistance centers sa mga malls ang EPD, magbibigay din sila ng lecture sa mga security officer ng mall sa paglaban ng kriminalidad at pati na sa pagtugon sa emergency. - GMANews.TV
