PEP: Roderick Paulate's mom passes away at 86

Roderick Paulate's mom, Paz Mendenilla Paulate, died last November 1 at the age of 86. Roderick, 47, was known to end his shows Vilma! and Tonight With Dick & Carmi with "I love you, Mama," for the woman who was once also his manager, and who stood as father and mother to him since his father died at age 67. Their closeness as strong mother and dutiful son was well-known in the industry. In fact, over the last five years Roderick took care of his mother and traveled with her. He moved her into his own house to take better care of her, administering her insulin shots himself. Mrs. Paulate had 10 children, with two dead. Roderick is the youngest. Her remains lie in Arlington memorial chapel on Araneta Avenue. Last night of the wake is this Friday, November 6. Mrs. Paz Paulate's remains will be brought to Loyola Memorial Park on Saturday morning, November 7. - PEP Staff
