Giant oil player Petron Corporation will increase the prices of its liquefied petroleum gas in Visayas and Mindanao on Friday.
In a text message, the company said the P3.50 per kilogram increase will take effect 6 a.m. on November 6.
The adjust will be implement to "reflect the rise in LPG contract prices for the month of November."
LPG prices in Luzon, meanwhile, will remain unchanged in accordance with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's Executive Order 839, which puts a freeze order on oil prices in areas devastated by cyclones Ondoy (Ketsana), Pepeng (Parma), and Santi (Mirinae).
Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera meanwhile said Malacañang is considering a partial lifting of the freeze order in Luzon.
Devanadera said oil companies, transport groups, as well as various chambers of commerce would meet again with the Department of Justice-Department of Energy Task Force On Oil Deregulation next week to discuss the possible modification of EO 839, considering its impact on the business sector.
She said the task force and the business groups would discuss whether the emergency situation that led to the implementation of EO 839 is still present or not.
“We have emphasized early on that this EO is only temporary. The possible lifting of the oil price freeze in some areas are all part and parcel of the original game plan," the Justice chief said.
Until such time, Devanadera said the implementation of the temporary freeze on oil prices will in effect. - GMANews.TV
