National Bureau of Investigation agents kept an overnight vigil over a bungalow-type house in Bulacan province believed to be a hideout of the Alvin Flores Gang, the robbery group blamed for the Greenbelt 5 robbery last month.
Radio dzBB reported early Friday that NBI agents were stationed outside the house in Plaridel town since Thursday night, with reinforcements from Manila arriving early Friday.
The report said the NBI was still waiting for a search warrant from a Manila court before entering the house.
It added that while the agents were allowed to enter the house by the owner, the NBI chose to wait for a search warrant so the evidence found inside will not be contested once the case reaches the court.
Meanwhile, in Metro Manila, police mobilized intelligence operatives to keep tabs on organized crime groups that "share" personnel and equipment with the notorious Alvin Flores Gang.
A report by radio dzBB’s Denevin Macaranas said Metro Manila police head Director Roberto Rosales issued the order following their interrogation of two Alvin Flores gang members.
Rosales said the gang members had admitted their gang “shares" personnel and equipment with other organized criminal gangs to pull off robberies.
On Thursday, Rosales said they have identified other gang members involved in the Greenbelt 5 heist following the surrender of one suspect and the arrest of another. [See: More suspects in Greenbelt 5 robbery identified]
Rosales likewise said the directive also seeks to thwart organized crime gangs from striking during the Christmas season.
The Alvin Flores Gang gained notoriety for its modus operandi where members pose as lawmen before robbing a targeted establishment.
Its members, including Flores himself, were killed in an encounter with lawmen in Cebu last month. [See: Suspects in Greenbelt 5 robbery killed in Cebu] - GMANews.TV
