KIDAPAWAN CITY – Armed men positioned along the highway in Pikit town in North Cotabato ambushed a convoy of vehicles that resulted to the death of a woman and wounding of three others Thursday night, police reports said.
Inspector Elias Dandan, chief of Pikit Police, identified the slain passenger as Naima Adulaof, resident of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
Those wounded were Musrif Sabarat, Sammy Salim, and Johaire Ocsio Sabarat, all residents of Cotabato City. They were onboard a black Mitsubishi Montero with plate number ZTY 813 when fired upon about 10 p.m. Thursday.
On the other hand, Adulaof was inside a red Nissan Frontier with plate number DDT 210.
Dandan said the gunmen could have positioned themselves at the elevated portion along the boundary of Barangays Dalingaoen and Batulawan of the national highway and when they saw the vehicles approaching, they started firing their automatic rifles.
The drivers of both the vehicles managed to elude the attackers and sped toward the northern portion of the highway. The victims were then rushed to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) in Cotabato City for treatment.
As of posting time, authorities are still clueless as to the identities of the suspects but hinted that personal grudge or clan feud could be the motive behind the attack. - Malu Cadelina Manar, GMANews.TV
