After a long stakeout, government agents finally managed to enter the suspected hideout of the notorious Alvin Flores Gang in Bulacan province where authorities seized firearms, fake police uniforms, and vehicle license plates.
A report over radio dzBB Friday afternoon said National Bureau of Investigation agents found the items inside the house in Plaridel town, after finally getting a warrant to search it around 1 p.m.
The agents had been keeping guard over the bungalow-type house since Thursday, preferring to wait for a search warrant so the evidence found there will not be questioned in court.
Among the items taken from the suspected hideout were M-14 and baby Armalite rifles with M-203 grenade launcher, pistols, and at least five bulletproof vests. Also found in the house were bolt cutters and sledgehammers used to forcibly open or remove safes, and handheld radio units.
The agents likewise found uniform tops of the Philippine National Police, with patches of the PNP's Metro Manila command. Found as well were shirts with "Bomb Squad" and "Bitag Extreme" prints.
The report said the agents also found vehicle license plates, including "red" plates usually issued to government vehicles, as well as laptop computers.
The Alvin Flores Gang gained notoriety for having its members pose as lawmen to gain entry to a targeted establishment. The latest incident that the gang got involved in was the robbery at a Rolex store in Greenbelt in Makati City. [See: Tension erupts at Greenbelt]
