University of Santo Tomas needed only 57 minutes to dispatch reigning NCAA five-time champion San Sebastian College, 25-11, 25-10, 25-15, in their game in the Shakey's V-League Season 6 second conference late Friday night at The Arena in San Juan City.
UST completed a seven-game sweep of its elimination round assignments to secure the top seeding in the quarterfinal round. SSC ended the preliminaries with a 5-2 mark to earn the No. 3 seeding in the quarterfinals.

The Tigresses were relentless at the defensive end limiting the Lady Stags to a combined season-low 36 points. UST previously held College of St. Benilde and University of the Philippines to 48 and 49 points.
"Ayaw maglaro nung first six ko. Buti pa nga yung second six kahit paano lumaban (My starters did not came out to play. Good thing I have my second unit who managed to put up a fight)," said SSC coach Roger Gorayeb
"Wala akong magawa. Alangan namang pilitin ko kaya nga ipinasok ko na lang yung second stringers ko, (I can't do anything. As if I can force my second unit to play the whole match)," added Gorayeb.
UST coach Cesael De los Santos, on the other hand, was happy how his wards performed against SSC. "Happy kami kasi na-sweep namin yung eliminations at gusto naming i-dedicate ang larong ito kay coach Gus."
De los Santos said they are dedicating the win to former mentor August Sta. Maria, who was forced to retire after suffering a stroke in 2007.
