RP athletes hope to get lion's share of medals in SEAG

Aquatics will have the most number of athletes in next month's 25th Southeast Asian Games as the Philippines will be fielding a 34-member delegation hoping to get the lion’s share of medals at stake in the Laos edition of the biennial meet. The sport will put 41 medals on the line.
The 34-member RP delegation in aquatics is spread out into three sports, namely: 16 from swimming, 13 from water polo and five from diving.
The Philippines will be sending 251 athletes that will compete in 22 sports disciplines, 125 support staff and 10 sports officials to bring the total number of the RP delegation to 386 for the Dec. 9 to 18 SEAG.
After aquatics, athletics is next with 20 athletes while taekwondo will be sending 16. Billiards and snookers will send 15 with sepak takraw having a 14-member team.
The other sports are cycling (13), judo (11), petanque (11), shooting (11), wrestling (11), boxing (10), archery (9), muay (9), wushu (9), beach volleyball (8), karatedo (8), lawn tennis (8), weightlifting (8), golf (7), pencak silat (7), table tennis (7) and badminton (5).
The list is based on the selection made by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
The Philippine Sports Commission, under chairman Harry Angping also made their separate selection where they would support 153 athletes and 47 officials.
The breakdown in the PSC list is composed of aquatics (24); taekwondo (17); sepak takraw (15); billiards and snooker (15); boxing (12); athletics (9); golf (7); karatedo, lawn tennis and petanque (six each); archery, muay and shooting (five each); cycling, judo and pencak silat (four each); and wushu, weightlifting and wrestling (three each).
