Bike puwede na sa LRT

MANILA – Para mainganyo ang publiko na gumamit ng bisikleta sa kanilang pupuntahan, puwede ng isakay sa Light Rail Transit o LRT ang mga bisikleta – pero yung natutupi lang muna.

Kamakailan ay pinasimulan ni LRTA chairman Melquiades Robles, ang programang “Bike 02" o Bike-On, Bike-Off, upang mahikayat ang publiko na iwan na sa kanilang mga bahay ang kanilang kotse at bumiyahe gamit ang kanilang bisikleta kahit sa malayong lugar.

Ang mga natitiklop na bisikleta ay maaaring isakay sa huling bagon (coach) ng Line 1 at 2 ng LRT na tatawaging “green zone." Ang Line 1 ng LRT ay nagmumula sa Baclaran sa Paranaque City, hanggang Munumento sa Caloocan City. Samantalang tumatakbo ang Line 2 mula sa Santolan, Pasig, hanggang CM Recto sa Maynila.

Sinabi ni Robles na mamatyagan nila ang dami ng mga pasahero na may bitbit na folding bike upang pag-aralan kung kailangan nilang dagdagan ang bagon na puwedeng ilaan sa naturang proyekto.

Bukod sa magandang ehersisyo sa katawan at tipid sa pamasahe, layunin ng programa na makatulong sa kampanya ng pamahalaan kontra sa climate change dahil hindi ginagamitan ng gasolina ang mga bisikleta.

Ang bagong natutuping bisikleta ay tinatayang nagkakahalaga ng P3,000 hanggang sa pinakamahal na P50,000 depende sa modelo nito. May nabibili naman segunda-mano na hanggang P1,500 ang halaga.

Pinag-aaralan na rin umano ng LRTA na maglagay ng parking space sa mga bisikleta na hindi natutupi para puwede itong iwanan ng pasahero bago sila sumakay ng tren. Ang naturang programa na sumusuporta sa mga tinatawag “bike commuter" ay ginagawa na sa mga develop countries gaya ng Japan, Singapore at ilang bansa sa Europe. - Fidel Jimenez, GMANews.TV
