Arroyo arrives from APEC meet in Singapore

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Sunday night returned from a three-day trip to Singapore where she attended a meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). A report by dzBB radio's Allan Gatus said Mrs. Arroyo arrived at about 9:40 p.m. aboard a chartered Philippine Airlines PR-001 flight. Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita led officials in welcoming Mrs. Arroyo at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2. Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said Mrs. Arroyo will give Filipino boxing icon Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao a hero's welcome upon his return from the United States. "We're going to give Pacquiao a hero's welcome. He has become the greatest champion in history. It is a pity the President and her delegation were not able to watch the fight," he said in an interview on government-run dzRB radio. Pacquiao won by technical knockout (TKO) over Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto in their fight in MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday (Sunday in Manila). The victory made him the first boxer to win seven world titles in seven weight divisions. - GMANews.TV
