Blast damages poll exec's home in Nueva Ecija - report


A grenade explosion damaged the house of an election officer in Nueva Ecija in northern Philippines Wednesday night, even as authorities are determining whether the incident is related to the upcoming May 2010 elections. Radio dzBB reported Thursday that the explosion damaged the house of Nueva Ecija election officer Perfecto Gihapon in Bongabon town. Sketchy initial reports cited by Senior Inspector Armando Santiago, Bongabon police chief, showed the incident occurred at 9:30 p.m. in Sinipit village in Bongabon. The explosion shattered windows in Gihapon's house, the report said. Police are looking into whether the incident is related to the upcoming automated elections next year, the same report said. Bongabon is a second-class town with a population of 73,639 people in 10,184 households. - GMANews.TV
