Vehicle in Palace exec son slay traced to British national


The vehicle used by the suspect in the killing of the son of a Malacañang official is in the name of a British national who works for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), police said Thursday. Quezon City police director Chief Superintendent Elmo San Diego said in a radio report that the vehicle used by the suspect in chasing Renato Ebarle Jr. just before he fatally shot the victim on Wednesday night is registered to a British national named Stephen Pollard. Police identified Pollard as a resident of Mandaluyong City who works for the ADB, according to the radio report, Investigators have already asked the ADB to turn over the British national for questioning about his possible involvement in the killing.
GMA News’ Oscar Oida meanwhile reported that the suspect’s vehicle, a blue wagon-type vehicle, had a diplomatic plate no. 20903. Based on initial police investigation, a Caucasian-looking man between 25 to 30 years old alighted from the said vehicle and shot Ebarle Jr. who was driving another vehicle along Boni Serrano Road in Quezon City. [See: Son of Palace exec killed in QC shooting incident] The victim, son of Presidential Chief of Staff Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr., died on the spot after sustaining several gunshot wounds, police said.
