Preneed sales in August slip by more than half

Preneed sales in August dropped by more than half owing to the weak subscription to education, life and pension plans.
Data from the Securities and Exchange Commission showed that in August, the number of plans sold by the industry declined 62 percent to 7,967 owing to the 56-percent slide in education, 61-percent dip in life, and 69-percent slip in pension plans.
For the first eight months of the year, meanwhile, the number of plans sold plunged 26 percent to 123, 229 from 166,949 units sold in the same period last year.
Pension plans declined 60 percent to 19,810, while education plans suffered a drop of 39 percent to 5,027.Life plans, on the other hand, contracted by 10 percent to 98,392. -GMANews.TV
