Suspect in Palace exec's son slay eludes NBI men

The suspected killer of a Malacañang official’s son during a road-rage incident in Quezon City last Wednesday remained elusive as government agents failed to catch him in raids during the weekend. Radio dzXL reported Sunday that the Philippine National Police (PNP) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) failed to track Jason Ivler during searches in at least two areas in Quezon City. Ivler, 27, was tagged as suspect in the road-rage shooting of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. in Quezon City. The victim’s father Renato Sr. works at the Office of the Presidential Chief of Staff. On the other hand, Ivler is the stepson of Asian Development Bank executive Stephen Pollard, to whom the vehicle with diplomatic plates involved in the traffic altercation that led to the shooting incident was registered. Press Secretary Cerge Remonde called on Ivler to surrender, even as the Department of Foreign Affairs said the suspect does not enjoy diplomatic immunity. The dzXL report said PNP and NBI agents searched the house of Ivler’s mother Marlyn Aguilar in New Manila in Quezon City and that of Pollard in Katipunan. Authorities are now verifying information Ivler is hiding in a farm of his family in Rizal province, the report said. - GMANews.TV
