Hayden's license revoked due to sex scandal

(Updated 11:46 p.m.) The government has revoked the license of celebrity doctor Hayden Kho Jr. following the immorality complaints filed against him by his ex-lover, actress Katrina Halili. Nicolas Lapeña, chairman of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), said Kho's license has been rescinded since last week following the investigation conducted by the commission's board of medicine. “Yung decision based on the complaints na finile (ni Halili). Nakakita siguro ang board na meron siyang (Kho) nagawang kapabayaan," Lapeña said in an interview with GMANews.TV. (The decision was based on the complaint filed by Halili. Maybe the board saw that there was error on Kho’s part.) In its 44-page decision, the Board of Medicine said that while Kho's videos has nothing to do with his profession, it was expected of him “to act, behave and conduct himself as a p[rofessional in dealing with other people especially women." "The Board declares that Dr. Kho Jr., violated the right of privacy of Ms. Halili when he videotaped their most intimate moments without the express consent and knowledge of the complainant...he was negligent and careless in the custody and possession of the videotape... the videos were then released to the public and this constituted evidence in the invasion of privacy of the complainant," the decision read.

The board also slammed Kho for having a doctor-patient relationship with Halili and for not refusing the use of illegal drugs. In an interview with GMA News, PRC Board of Medicine chairman Dr. Restituto Ocampo said the decision was based on the panel’s conscience. "Our own conscience, our own deicison based on what transpired. What's important is he can no longer practice medicine," Ocampo said. Halili's camp welcomed the PRC’s decision. "Masaya naman siya na lumabas yung decision at nakuha namin yung objective na mapatangalan ng license si Hayden (Katrina is happy with the decision because it has been our objective to have Hayden's licensed revoked)," said Halili’s lawyer Raymund Palad Kho’s camp, for its part, said they would appeal the decision in 15 days. Lapeña reportedly said that while Kho could still file for an appeal, he is no longer allowed to practice medicine pending the final decision on his motion. In case the board turns down his motion, he could still ask the PRC to reconsider its decision after two or three years. “Under the law allowed yan na after two to three years he could file for an appeal. Titignan ng PRC yung naging conduct niya kung still unbecoming of a doctor (The PRC would check if his conduct is still unbecoming of a doctor)," he said. Kho and Halili were given a copy of the PRC's decision Monday morning, Lapeña said. The decision came three months after the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) suspended Kho for two years over the same case. Halili filed the complaints against Kho after a video of their sexual trysts spread on the Internet. She said the video was taken by Kho without her knowledge and consent. Kho, for his part, admitted filming his sexual encounters but denied uploading the videos. He also apologized to Halili, saying the videos were part of his personal collection and accused his friends of posting them. Halili also filed a complaint before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seeking the agency's help in curbing the rampant selling of their sex video in the underground markets. - KK, GMANews.TV
