A whammy awaits consumers this December as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) may cost P3.50 per kilo, or P40 per 11-kg tank, more.
LPG Marketing Association president Arnel Ty said the price hike is due to the uptick in international prices of the commodity.
"Ang monitoring namin sa contract price, ang international price ng LPG, $70 ang increase as of today. Equivalent yan sa P3.50 per kilo (Our monitoring shows the international contract prices of LPG went up by $70, or P3.50 per kilo)," Ty said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He said this means a P40 hike per 11-kg tank, driving up present prices from P580 to P620.
Ty, however, said this will be a one-time increase for the whole of December.
"Mula P580 ngayong buwan pagdating ng Dec. 1 ang SRP malamang sa P620, base sa international market price (From P580 per tank now, LPG prices may go up to P620 per 11-kg tank starting Dec. 1)," he said. - LRSJ/LG, GMANews.TV
