Former President Fidel V. Ramos on Wednesday did not bare his presidential pick for next year’s elections, but said he would bare his choice in the coming months through “body language."
“Please don’t wait for any written or spoken endorsement, just watch our body language," he told reporters during the launch of his book, “Bulletin of FVR ‘Sermons’, on board the Philippine ship (Filipinos Together)" at the Manila Hotel Wednesday.
Ramos said he would give the signal one or two months before the May 10, 2010 elections.
“That is when you will find the answer although in writing the answers are here already," he said, referring to his book.
Ramos said his book contains unsolicited advice to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and the 2010 presidential aspirants on how to run the nation.
Of the presidential aspirants, only former Public Works secretary Hermogenes Ebdane was present during the book launching.
Ebdane had been openly seeking Ramos’ support in his presidential bid.
Ramos said he had talked with all but one of the presidential aspirants, whom he said came to him for “consultations."
“All presidentiables… have voluntarily come to my office or my museum, which is in Alabang, to talk about 2010," he said. “They want to consult [me]."
Also present in the book launching were Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, Liberal Party secretary general and Cavite Rep. Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya, former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Avelino Razon, and Camarines Sur Rep. Liwayway Vinsons-Chato.
Interviewed by GMANews.TV, Ermita said Ramos’ “stature" makes his endorsement important to any presidential candidate.
He however said he is not keen on seeking Ramos’ endorsement for the administration’s presidential bet, former Defense secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr.
“Since I heard what the President (Ramos) wants to happen, I will not do that anymore," said Ermita, former president of Lakas-Kampi-CMD. - KBK, GMANews.TV
