A 29-year-old man buried alive his two-month-old daughter in Camarines Sur province over the weekend, reports said.
Radio dzBB identified the suspect as Jimmy Sicinay, who reportedly blamed "evil spirit" for his action.
A report on GMA News' "24 Oras" said the gruesome killing of Baby Dyesebel occurred at Barangay Taririk in Minalabac town after Sisinay had a fight with his 19-year-old live-in partner Cristina Lucero.
Initial investigation showed Sisinay, who was drunk at the time, was irritated when the noise of his fight with Lucero woke up Baby Dyesebel, who started crying.
Sisinay then got a knife and tried to stab Baby Dyesebel. Lucero stopped him and tried to escape with the baby, but the suspect was able to snatch the infant back.
Sisinay allegedly threw the infant to a shallow grave he earlier dug.
A police team responding to the incident subdued and arrested the suspect, who will be charged with parricide.
Sisinay had since regretted his actions, the reports said. - KBK, GMANews.TV
