PBA: Perasol replaces Duremdes as Coca-Cola coach

Coca-Cola appointed Bo Perasol as the new Tigers coach while elevating former mentor Kenneth Duremdes to the team’s front office as an alternate governor in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) board. JB Baylon, the Coca-Cola team manager and PBA board governor, confirmed this moments before the Tigers take on the Ginebra Gin Kings Friday night at the Big Dome.

“Well, Kenneth was supposed to file his candidacy in his province, but failed to get a transfer of residency for him to run in the elections," Baylon told GMANews.TV. “But we knew his basketball value, so we elevated him as alternate board governor." Baylon also added that Duremdes might head the company’s basketball grassroots program. Coca-Cola will be the second team Perasol will be handling. He steered Air21 to the 2007-2008 Fiesta Conference finals where the Express lost to the Gin Kings in a tough seven-game title series. But the former University of the Philippines Maroon is rich in coaching experience, handling Philippine Basketball League team Paralux, Surigao Miners in the Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA) before becoming a member of Air21’s coaching staff. While a part of the Express’ coaching staff, Perasol also worked as a corporate manager in the Bert Lina-owned company. – GMANews.TV
