Gordon to announce 2010 plans on Tuesday

Will he push through with his presidential plans, or will he run for a second term as senator? Senator Richard Gordon on Sunday said he would make public his “last minute" decision on Tuesday, the last day for filing certificates of candidacy for the 2010 elections. “We’re still deciding. Di ako natatakot manalo o matalo. Ang iniisip ko makakabuti ba ako sa bayan, ang liderato ko tatanggapin ng bayan, handa ba ang bayan sa ganyang liderato? At sa pananaw ko kaya ko ang trabaho. I can wait until Tuesday para mag-anunsyo sapagka’t napakahalagang step nito," Gordon said in an interview on dzBB radio. (We're still deciding. I am not afraid to win or lose. What I'm asking myself is will I be a good leader for the country or if the country is ready for me. I can wait until Tuesday to announce my plans.) “Di ko naman hinahangad ang titulo ng presidente. Ang ina-aspire ko is to lead at mabago ang paguugali ng bayan (I do not hanker for the title of president, but I aspire to lead and change our nation’s attitude)," he added. Gordon claimed he had been approached by former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Bayani Fernando for a possible team-up. He said they met twice in Olongapo City. The senator said Fernando initially wanted him to be his vice president but eventually agreed to be his running mate. “Nag-usap kami. Gusto niya noong una ako ang mag bise presidente. Sabi ko siguro di pa naman tinitingnan yan. Nag-usap kami kung pwede siya mag-bise, medyo nakumbinsi siya (At first he wanted me to be his vice president but after we talked further he was convinced to be my running mate)," Gordon said. He also said he is still open to running for reelection as senator. “Why not? Everything is open, pwede rin ako tumakbo sa ibang pwesto (I can run for other posts). But most probably if I do run I’d rather run for president or senator," he said. - KBK, GMANews.TV
