CHR Chairwoman Leila de Lima said in a radio interview that a CHR team in Cotabato will determine if there was sufficient basis for declaring martial law in the region. “Kulang ang tao namin but we exert best efforts. Talagang imo-monitor, aalamin ang ginagawa in connection with that declaration. Kailangan busisihin natin ang naging basehan (We may not have enough personnel but we have to exert our best efforts to monitor what is happening in connection with that declaration. We will have to look into the basis for that action)," de Lima said in an interview on dzBB radio. “Kailangan i-monitor ang human rights situation sa lugar (We have to monitor the human rights situation there). You know what martial law can do to the basic rights of citizens," she added. - JHU,TJD, GMANews.TV
