Police fails to arrest Jason Ivler anew

Law enforcers on Wednesday failed anew to arrest Jason Ivler, an American national who was the prime suspect in the killing of a Malacañang official's son. GMA News' Susan Enriquez reported over "24 Oras" that the police surrounded at least three houses in Blue Ridge subdivision in Quezon City about 4 p.m. after receiving information that Ivler was in the area. The police team was armed with an arrest warrant issued by Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 71 in Pasig City but the operations yielded negative results.
For the latest Philippine news stories and videos, visit GMANews.TV Quezon City Police District (QCPD) deputy director for operations Odi Arroyo was quoted as saying that Ivler’s mother, Marlene Aguilar, told the police that his son was not with her. The report added that law enforcers were disallowed from checking one of the three houses as they don’t have any search warrant. Ivler, the nephew of folk singer Freddie Aguilar is subject to a nationwide manhunt for the killing of Renato Ebarle Jr., the son of Presidential Chief of Staff undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr. The young Ebarle was shot dead during an alleged traffic altercation in Boni Serrano Avenue last November 18. Ivler was also implicated in a car accident five years ago, which resulted in the death of another Malacañang official, Undersecretary Nestor Ponce. QCPD Chief Supt. Elmo San Diego earlier said that police forces already have an idea of Ivler's whereabouts and are close to arrest him. San Diego also said the QCPD had received reports that Ivler is currently hiding in houses of “known personalities" in Metro Manila. – Aie Balagtas See/JV, GMANews.TV
