Remains of MV Catalyn-B passenger found in Bataan

The number of fatalities from the ill-fated MV Catalyn B has risen to six after a body believed to be that of a missing passenger of the sunken vessel was retrieved in Bataan province on Monday. In a text message to reporters, PCG spokesman Cmdr. Armand Balilo identified the victim as Michael Cajayon Almodal, 34, based on the identification card found inside his wallet. The body, clad in black shirt, denim shorts, and Catalyn-B life vest, was seen floating along the waters near Corregidor island by motor banca “King Mark 2," the report said. The remains will be brought to Sanver Funeral Homes in barangay Ipag in Mariveles town. MV Catalyn B, owned by San Nicolas Shipping Lines, sank to the bottom of 200-foot-deep waters after it collided with the steel-hulled fishing boat FV Anatalia off Limbones Island in Cavite on Christmas Eve. FV Anatalia is owned by FilMariner Aquaventures. At least 12 passengers of MV Catalyn B remain unaccounted for. – Aie Balagtas See/JV, GMANews.TV
