Baby girl among 4 bodies retrieved from Catalyn B

A baby girl who still had a pink pacifier in her mouth was among the four bodies retrieved on Wednesday from the underwater wreckage of the ill-fated MV Catalyn B about 220 feet deep off Limbones Island in Cavite province. The Philippine Coast Guard said in a text message that the agency’s divers recovered seven-month old Rhein Shanele Abileda and three other bodies of adults from inside the sunken vessel, where at least 12 bodies are still believed to be trapped.

The Abileda baby was wearing pink-dotted overalls, a yellow butterfly shirt and white shorts. Two of the bodies were retrieved on Wednesday afternoon, while the other two were retrieved earlier in the day. Catalyn B eventually sank after the incident. Coast Guard chief Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo has earlier given his men until the end of this week to finish the search, rescue, and retrieval operations for Catalyn B passengers. – Aie Balagtas See/JV, GMANews.TV
