20 hurt in Isabela road accident

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya – Twenty people were hurt following a road accident in the northern province of Isabela Thursday night, police said Friday. Police said the victims were on board a south bound passenger jeepney when it sideswiped a delivery truck along the national highway in Daramuangan Norte village in San Mateo town about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Investigators said the passenger jeepney [AYA 373] driven by Christian Puguon, 20, of San Mariano town’s Casala village, overtook a delivery truck [UDG 273] loaded with live chicken and driven by Renante Andres, 26, resident of San Dionisio village in Maddela, Quirino. While passing, Puguon apparently lost control of his steering wheel which caused his vehicle to graze the left panel of the similarly moving delivery truck. The ensuing incident reportedly caused the jeepney to overturn thereby injuring all of its 20 passengers including the driver. Responding policemen immediately rushed the victims to the BBCSS Clinic in San Mateo for medical treatment. Nobody from the truck's passengers were hurt. - Floro Taguinod/RSJ, GMANews.TV
