Ang Panday is the official topgrosser of the '09 MMFF


The Executive Committee of the 35th Metro Manila Film Festival-Philippines, through its member Mr. Ric Camaligan, has released the official box-office gross of the seven films that competed in the annual filmfest. The MMFF began on December 25, 2009 and officially closed yesterday, January 7, 2010, although most of these films have extended run. GMA Films and Imus Productions' Ang Panday was the topgrosser, amassing a total of P99.4 million after 13 days. Aside from being the tropgrosser, Ang Panday was also the most-awarded film in the MMFF Awards Night with a total of seven trophies, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Bong Revilla), and Best Supporting Actor (Phillip Salvador). Star Cinema's I Love You, Goodbye jumped to second place with P94.3 million; while Vic Sotto's Ang Darling Kong Aswang, produced by M-ZET Productions, TAPE Inc, and OctoArts Films, dropped to third place with 89.6 million. Regal Entertainment's entries, Shake, Rattle & Roll XI and Mano 6: A Mother's Love, took the fourth and fifth slots, respectively. The 11th installment of SRR grossed P77.6 million while sixth installment of the Mano Po saga starring Megastar Sharon Cuneta pocketed a total of P42 million. In sixth place is Dolphy's Nobody, Nobody But Juan with P31.9 million, while Manny Pacquiao's Wapakman was at the bottom of the pack with P2.6 million.
