2 suspected motorcycle thieves killed in QC encounter

Two suspected motorcycle thieves were shot dead after reportedly engaging police in a running gunbattle in Quezon City before dawn Monday. Radio dzBB reported the two, who were not immediately identified, tried to elude a police checkpoint near the corner of Central Avenue and Visayas Avenue. Police said the two men were traveling along Central Avenue and approaching Visayas Avenue when they saw the police checkpoint. Initial investigation showed the two men made a quick U-turn when flagged down, prompting police manning the checkpoint to give chase. During the chase, the two men allegedly fired at the policemen, who fired back. Recovered from the slain men were a cal-.38 and a Super Magnum 22 handgun.
