Infant, 3 others shot dead in Nueva Ecija

Four family members, including an eight-month-old infant, were shot to death Tuesday night in what investigators believed was a case of land dispute in Nueva Ecija province, a police official said Wednesday. Chief Inspector Arnold Palomo, officer-in-charge of the San Antonio police in the province, identified the victims as Marcela Galicia, 50; her son Arturo, 28; daughter-in-law Cecille, 25; and granddaughter Aicelle. He said the four were shot at about 8 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Lawang Kupang in San Antonio town. The bodies were discovered Wednesday morning, but neighbors said they heard gunshots the previous night. “Isang anggulong tinitingnan namin dito yung (One of the angles we’re looking at is) land dispute, so we are still investigating," Palomo said. The bodies of Marcela and Arturo were found outside the house, Palomo said. Recovered from the scene were eight empty shells of what is believed to be 9mm caliber pistol. Palomo said they are yet to determine the number of suspects in the case. Investigators are checking the text messages in the cellphones recovered from two of the victims in hope that it will give them a clearer picture of the shooting incident. - KBK, GMANews.TV
