RP outlaws 'Sexy James Bond' capsules, other unsafe sex enhancers

Philippine drug officials have outlawed nearly 50 sex-enhancement drugs, including a preparation named Sexy James Bond 007 3000 mg capsules. Claiming that these are “imminently" unsafe and dangerous, the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that these products – listed in two separate circulars – will be seized from establishments. Both circulars were dated January 8 but were posted on the FDA website on Friday evening. Continued sale of these products “undeniably poses imminent danger or injury to the consuming public," FDA head Nazarita Tacandong said in FDA Circular 2010-001. Of the total 49 drugs identified in the two circulars, 46 are sex-enhancement preparations while the remaining three are cosmetic products. The sex-enhancement drugs, tested after an inspection at the Him Guan drugstore in Manila, are, as follows:

In a separate FDA circular 2010-002, three cosmetic products were found to contain higher levels of mercury, “exceeding the allowable limit of 1 (part per million)." These cosmetic products were identified as:

• Jiaoli Miraculous Cream
• Jiaoli Huichusu Special Cut Genuine
• Jiaoli 2+17 Days Clearing Facial Spots Suit

“Cosmetic products containing such impurities or contaminants that are way beyond the allowable limit are outright misbranded and the importation, distribution, selling or offering for sale of the same is in direct violation of Republic Act No. 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009," Tacandong said.
