Slay suspect Jason Ivler now in stable condition – report

Hours after engaging government authorities in a firefight, slay suspect Jason Ivler is already in stable condition and has been transferred to the intensive care unit of the hospital where he was rushed after sustaining gunshot wounds. Radio dzBB’s Allan Gatus quoted Quirino Memorial Medical Center head surgeon Dr. Fernando Lopez as saying that they had to remove Ivler’s spleen and two inches of his large intestine, which were ruptured during the shooting incident. Fernando earlier said Ivler was in critical condition after losing blood. [See: Slay suspect Jason Ivler in critical condition, doctor says]

Ivler, 28, was arrested on Monday morning inside the Blue Ridge subdivision, Quezon City home of his mother, Marlene Aguilar. He initially resisted arrest and fired upon National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives. [See: Marlene Aguilar to be investigated for ‘hiding’ son Jason] Ivler is the key suspect in the November 18 road rage killing of Renato Ebarle Jr., son of Presidential Chief of Staff Renato Ebarle Sr. In 2004, Ivler also figured in a car accident along the C-5 Ortigas flyover that killed a Malacañang official, presidential assistant for resettlement Undersecretary Nestor Ponce. Ivler did not show up for hearings on the 2004 accident, forcing government authorities to declare him a fugitive. Malacañang had earlier commended the NBI for Ivler’s arrest. "The arrest of Ivler is a big personal relief to the Ebarle family and friends. The NBI and all those who helped in his arrest deserve high commendation," said Press Secretary Cerge Remonde in a text message. - Sophia Dedace/RSJ/LBG, GMANews.TV
