Marlene Aguilar posts bail, visits son in hospital

The parents of murder suspect Jason Ivler arrived at a Quezon City hospital Tuesday night to get a first glimpse of him since his arrest Monday morning, a radio report said. Radio dzBB's Roland Bola said Marlene Aguilar and Stephen Pollard, Ivler’s stepfather, arrived at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) at around 9 p.m. She was wearing a black tank top and pants, while Pollard was garbed in green shirt and denim pants. Ivler, 28, was rushed at the QMMC after he was wounded while resisting arrest in Aguilar's house in Blue Ridge Subdivision in Quezon City. His doctor said he is now in a stable condition. The couple, who arrived in a white van with diplomatic plate 25020, had come from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) where Aguilar had been detained for obstruction of justice.

Aguilar’s lawyer, Mitchel Magdaog, posted the bail at the Manila Metropolitan Trial Court in behalf of his client. “Attorney Magdaog went to the Manila MTC in behalf of Aguilar after getting the copy of information from the Quezon City Regional Trial Court where the case for obstruction for justice against Aguilar was filed," said lawyer Alexis Medina, another of Aguilar’s counsels. Judge Joel Lucasan of Manila MTC Branch 27 accepted the bail at about 6 p.m. A report from QTV's "News on Q" said Aguilar stayed at QMMC for 15 minutes. “They can call him a monster, they can call him whatever they want, the whole world can condemn my son, but I will love him just the same," she said in a short interview with reporters. Ivler is the suspect in the shooting of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. last November 18. Ebarle’s father, Renato Sr., is an undersecretary at the Office of the Presidential Chief of Staff. He was arrested after engaging NBI agents in a brief firefight inside Aguilar’s residence. Among those who visited Ivler in the hospital Tuesday was his cousin, singer Megan Aguilar, daughter of folk singer Freddie Aguilar. - KBK, GMANews.TV
