Leader of barangay captains shot dead in Masbate

Esperanza town is at the southeastern tip of the island-province of Masbate, which is administratively part of the Bicol region. Masbate has been tagged by the Commission on Elections and the national police as one of the 'election hotspots.' Wikipedia
The president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in Esperanza town, Masbate province was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday afternoon, an Army official said.

Maj. Harold Cabunoc, public information officer of the Philippine Army's 9th Infantry Division, identified the fatality as Ali Arasado. He was killed about 3 p.m. in Barangay Masbaranon in Esperanza, Cabunoc added.

The motive behind the shooting was still unknown as of posting time.
