The angry music of Jsin Aguilar, aka Jason Ivler

"Like 50 Cent, many men want me dead They got a price on my head But I stay in the club like I don’t give a f--k The Department of Justice is trying to bust this case in my face And trying to keep me in one place So now I’m getting prosecuted This s--t is highly disputed The Bureau of Immigration and the National Bureau of Investigation got your man Jason Try and get me, I’m gonna fight this Y’all acting sh---y like a laxative I told y’all it was motherf---ing accident." These are the lyrics of the song “Yo J" that a rapper calling himself Jsin Aguilar uploaded on April 19, 2005. Describing the song, Jsin wrote: “I got into a car accident and accidentally killed the under secretary for the president of the Philippines... this song is about some of the bull---t I've been goin through."

The music page is registered to Jason Aguilar Ivler. In the song "Yo J," Jsin describes his sentiments about a court case, possibly Ivler's homicide case over the August 2004 vehicular accident that killed Malacañang official Nestor Ponce Jr. Screen grab of Jsin Aguilar's music page details
Jsin Aguilar's page on the music-sharing site Soundclick.com shows that Jsin is registered to "Jason Aguilar Ivler," the same name of the fugitive wanted for murder who was captured after a shootout with NBI agents last Monday. But his expletive-peppered lyrics on his music site were about a previous killing. On the morning of August 8, 2004, Ivler was driving along the C5-Ortigas flyover when he reportedly lost control of his Toyota Land Cruiser and rammed into an Isuzu Trooper on the other lane, killing the passenger in the other vehicle, Nestor Ponce Jr. Ponce was President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s presidential adviser for resettlement. Ivler, then 22 years old, was charged with homicide through reckless impudence. He posted bail for temporary freedom, and in an alleged attempt to evade prosecution, tried to escape to Malaysia by boat but was arrested in Zamboanga City. After failing to show up for hearings related to the homicide case, Ivler was considered a fugitive.

Nephew of Freddie Aguilar Since then, Ivler has been apparently expressing his rage and anger through music, as his Internet posts show. This is not at all surprising, as music runs in his veins. Ivler is the nephew of Filipino folk rock legend Freddie Aguilar. His mother, Marlene Aguilar Pollard, is the sister of Freddie and also sings occasionally at The Hobbit House in Manila aside from writing books.

His first cousin Maegan Aguilar, daughter of Freddie, is featured in the July 31, 2006 posting of the song “In D Philippines" where Jsin wrote, “This is the remix to in the PI part 1 the remix still got maegan aguilar sing'n the chorus." Jsin posted several photos and videos, one of them showing his back tattooed with “Ivler." His site features around 10 hip-hop songs, most of them loaded with expletives and containing a parental advisory for explicit content.

The songs were posted between January 17, 2005 and December 15, 2006, when authorities were already pursuing Ivler for the Ponce case. Another shooting Law enforcers did not know Ivler’s whereabouts until more than five years later, when he made headlines in the shooting of Renato Ebarle Jr. over a traffic altercation last November 18. Ivler allegedly shot Ebarle, son and namesake of a Malacañang undersecretary. Jsin last visited his page on January 3, 2010, in the thick of a global manhunt for Ivler, who was believed to have flown to Hawaii. Ivler was arrested 16 days later in the basement of his mother’s home Quezon City after a shootout with law enforcers and suffering two bullet wounds. Currently recovering while in hospital detention and guarded around the clock, Ivler will not be posting new songs any time soon– YA/HGS, GMANews.TV
