BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya - More than 100 kilos of suspected marijuana bricks were recovered by the police in a house situated between Isabela and Kalinga provinces on Friday morning. Joint elements from the local and provincial police force, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) found the marijuana bricks inside a house along the boundary of Naganacan village in Sta. Maria, Isabela and Babalag village, Rizal, Kalinga, reports said. Personnel from the provincial police office’s anti-drug unit and PDEA swooped down on a farm owned by the Labarias family in Babalag village after a stakeout confirmed the presence of four large cigarette boxes loaded with the said illegal drugs, Chief Supt. Roberto Damian, Region II police director said. Raiding teams – which acted on information from an anonymous tipster – reported that the boxes bore markings that it will be shipped to Cubao, Quezon City and is consigned to a certain Arnel Viernes. “Intelligence reports from our men has validated that the boxes were supposed to be shipped at around 3:00 this afternoon that’s why we acted as fast as we could," Damian said, adding that one brick of the marijuana brick weighs at least one kilo each. No suspects have been arrested but follow up operations on the owner and source of the contraband are still underway, police said. - RJAB Jr./GMANews.TV
