Mark Joseph, the newly-installed chief of mission of Team Philippines in the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, will seek support from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) for the contingent’s participation in the inaugural meet.
“I’ll talk with (PSC) Chairman (Harry) Angping and I want to exchange ideas with him on what the PSC’s approach to youth development (will be)," said Joseph during the POC’s weekly radio program.

Joseph was formally appointed as chief of mission during Wednesday’s POC executive board meeting along with Joey Romasanta, the delegation head for the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China in November; and Jeff Tamayo, the boss for the 2nd Asian Beach Games in Muscat, Oman in December.
Initially, Joseph, the president of the aquatics chief and the POC deputy secretary general, projected a budget of P7.5 million or P300,000 per athlete for the Aug. 14-26 event. He expects 25 Filipino athletes to qualify for the Youth Olympics.
He said equestrian, shooting, archery, boxing and taekwondo will hold their qualifying tournaments in the next months.
Francis Casey Alcantara, the 2009 Australian Open juniors doubles champion, and a three-on-three basketball team have already been given slots by their respective international federations for the Youth Olympiad.
Swimmers Jessie Lacuna, Jasmine Alkhaldi, Banjo Borja, Dorothy Hong and Jose Gonzales have reached the qualifying standard but would have to maintain their respective times in order to qualify for the Games. – GMANews.TV
