Ebarle Jr.'s death is God's will - Ivler's mother

“Everything happens under the will of heaven." This was what Marlene Aguilar had to say to the family of Renato Ebarle Jr., whom her son Jason Ivler allegedly killed last November 18 reportedly over a traffic altercation in Quezon City. In an interview on ABS-CBN showbiz talk show The Buzz, Aguilar likewise said Ivler’s alleged involvement in Ebarle’s death was part of God’s will. “We are only instruments here. We are instruments of God. We are instruments of higher forces. You or I do not decide who lives or dies," she told host Boy Abunda, who asked what her message is to the Ebarle family.

Ivler, 28, was arrested last Monday morning in Aguilar's residence in Blue Ridge A Subdivision in Quezon City after shooting it out with National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents. He was wounded in the encounter and is now recuperating at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center. Aguilar, sister of popular folk singer Freddie Aguilar, denied allegations that her son is a violent person. “I have traveled to 36 countries, I’ve seen so much of the world and I’ve never seen anyone as beautiful as Jason," she said. Aguilar, however, admitted that Ivler felt “so much pain and anger" when his father died when he was only two and a half years old. “His father was killed by a professional killer in Thailand." The embattled mother of three likewise said her son wanted to die during the shootout with the arresting team from the NBI. “He believes that his death will give me strength. He is the price I have to pay for the kind of person I am," she said. Asked to comment on criticisms that she has a mental problem, Aguilar retorted: “I have published 11 titles (books) defending Philippine art and culture, because I believe that is the soul of our nation. I received awards and citations both local and international.
