Bomb scare causes alarm in Greenhills Shopping Center

Fear gripped people at the Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan City in eastern Metro Manila after unidentified men left behind a rifle grenade there Sunday night. Radio dzBB reported on Monday that police found the bottle-shaped rifle grenade inside a black plastic bag on the second floor of the parking area in Greenhills Shopping Center. San Juan City police chief Senior Superintendent Procopio Lipana, however, said the rifle grenade posed no real threat because it did not have a device that would trigger an explosion. Initial investigation showed police rushed to the shopping area after the mall management received a call that an explosive had been placed there. A police team cordoned off the area and found the black plastic containing the rifle grenade inside a comfort room on the second floor at the parking area. Eastern Police District head Chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele said they are still determining who were behind the incident. - LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
