Tipster in Ivler’s arrest gets remaining half of P1-M reward

The informant who helped the National Bureau of Investigation track down murder suspect Jason Ivler received the remaining half of his P1-million reward on Monday. The tipster, whose identity remained undisclosed over security reasons, received the P500,000 reward at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headquarters at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City. NCRPO chief Director Roberto Rosales lauded the informant during the NCRPO’s flag ceremony. “The arrest of Jason Ivler through the information provided by the informant shows that members of the community can do a lot in helping law enforcement agencies… in capturing notorious criminals and other individuals that are in hiding because of pending warrants for their arrest," Rosales said in a statement released by the NCRPO on Monday. It was the informant who told the NBI that Ivler was hiding in the basement of his mother’s Quezon City home. As of Monday, Ivler has remained confined at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center. He sustained gunshot wounds after engaging NBI agents in a shootout during his arrest. Last week, Presidential Chief of Staff Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr. handed the initial P500,000 reward to the informant at the NBI main office in Manila. In the same NCRPO statement, Rosales urged the public to help the government in its campaign against crime and terrorism with or without reward. “All of us should be driven by higher motives of concern for our society and must report wanted criminals or any illegal activity to the police and other law enforcement agencies," said Rosales. -ARCS/LBG, GMANews.TV
