2 kids dead, 6 injured in Camarines road mishap

Two persons died while six others were injured when their bus en route to Manila from Biliran province figured in a road accident in Del Gallegos town in Camarines Sur early Wednesday morning. Senior Police Officer 4 Romulo Fabiano, spokesperson of the Camarines Sur Provincial Police Office, identified the fatalities as one-year-old Sheremi Ancheli Angling and three-year-old Guillermo Cabuquin, both from Almeria town in Biliran. “Upon reaching Barangay [village] Comadaycaday, the northbound air-conditioned PP Bus Line with plate number TYR-966 from Biliran province, due to slippery road, lost control, skidded and slammed onto a mahogany tree," Fabiano said in a phone interview. The other six casualties were identified as Jomari Paderog, five years old, from Manila; Remedios Costigo, 69, and Theralyn Lacson, 39, both from Leyte; and from Biliran, Apolinario Gervacio, 69, Joseph Placerdo, 21, and Cheradee Longa, 21 years old. The casualties were all brought to Maria Eleazar Memorial Hospital in Tagkawayan town in nearby Quezon province for treatment. The two children, however, were declared dead on arrival. Twenty other passengers sustained minor injuries, Fabiano said, although the total number of passengers in the bus remains undetermined. The 34-year-old driver, Rufo Corpin, also from Biliran, voluntarily surrendered to the Highway Patrol Group, the police officer said. – JMA/JV, GMANews.TV
