Pagasa: No cyclone behind early morning rains in Metro

A light drizzle surprised residents in parts of Metro Manila early Wednesday, but state weather forecasters said this was not due to any cyclone passing through the country. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration even said the arrival of easterly winds will bring “dry and warm" air that may herald the arrival of summer. “Minsan ang hangin nanggagaling sa silangan. Ibig sabihin niyan, dry and warm air ang binibigay sa atin. Depende saan galing ang hangin na umiiral sa atin, ngayon nagiging easterly ang ating wind, kumpara nakaraan northeast, ang amihan, unti-unti magpapalit ang hangin hanggang darating tayo sa summer season (Sometimes the wind now comes from the east, bringing dry and warm air. This is in contrast to the northeast monsoon that brought cool winds. If the wind comes from the east, it means the summer season is nearing)," Pagasa forecaster Elvie Enriquez said in an interview on dzBB radio early Wednesday. She said this will explain partly why the weather is cool in the early morning and in the evening, but hot during the rest of the day. Meanwhile, Pagasa said the ridge of a high-pressure area is extending across the country. “The entire archipelago will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies except for isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly over the Eastern sections," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. - LBG, GMANews.TV
