With national athletes leading the way, some 10,000 runners are expected to spend Valentine’s Day on the road as they see action in the Philippine Sports Commission's "Run for Your Heart'' on Sunday. The race, which will mark the agency's 20th anniversary as well as the celebration of the Chinese New Year and Valentines Day, will start at 6 a.m. The race will fire off in front of the Rizal Monument and will end at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila covering a 10-kilometer distance. There will also be 3-km and 5-km events in the race which has likewise lured participants from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, different running clubs, and members of civic organizations such as Jaycees, Lions, and Rotary clubs, enthusiasts, schools and the PSC family. Finishers and participants will get race shirts and bib and free “tikoy". Cash prizes await the winners for both male and female categories. For the 10K run, gold, silver and bronze medalists will receive P10,000, P5,000, and P3,000 respectively. For the 5K run, winners will take home P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000. Prizes for 3K are P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000. The 3k run is open to all runners. Registration fee for the 5K run is P100 and for 10K event P200.
