First Pyromusical Competition kicks off at Mall of Asia

Bursts of red, green and gold lit up the sky as stargazing friends, families and lovers celebrated Valentine's Day with a spectacular fireworks display along the Manila bay on February 14. The First Philippine International Pyromusical Competition kicked off at the SM Mall of Asia with an opening exhibition from the Philippines' Platinum Fireworks, which placed second runner-up in the 2009 Macau Fireworks Competition.

To celebrate the Year of the Tiger, Platinum fired up the night sky with one explosion of colorful light after another to the tune of Survivor's Eye of the Tiger. The United States contender Pyrofire Display came next with a glorious display of lights shooting up the sky accompanied by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli's rendition of "The Prayer." Gathering eight of the world's pyrotechnics experts, the event is the first of its kind to give the audience a spectacular feast of lights timed with equally dramatic music.
