Landmine blasts hurt government soldier in Surigao del Sur


BUTUAN CITY- A government soldier was wounded when landmines believed planted by suspected communist rebels along the road in Barangay Anibongan in Lianga town in Surigao del Sur exploded, a police report said. A belated report by the Lianga Police to the Caraga Police Regional Office claimed that a convoy of around 450 government troops from the 58th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army was jolted by landmines explosions last Saturday morning. It said that the soldiers were on their way to their base camp in Lianga on two ten-wheeler military trucks during the incident. The wounded soldier was immediately brought to D.O. Plaza Hospital in Patin-ay, Prosperidad town in Agusan del Sur for treatment. - Ben Serrano/LBG, GMANews.TV
