2 of 3 suspected robbers killed in Taguig shootout - report

Two of three suspected robbers were killed after engaging police in a shootout after their last heist in Taguig City Thursday night, a radio report said. Radio dzXL reported the incident occurred past 6 p.m., shortly after the suspects commandeered a Toyota Revo Asian utility vehicle (AUV) in Hagonoy village. Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan, Taguig police chief, said the suspects were heading for Dreamland in Signal Village when they approached a police checkpoint near Dreamland. Instead of heeding the police checkpoint team’s order to stop, the suspects allegedly accelerated and fired at the police, who were prompted to fire back. At the time of the shootout, one of the suspects was driving the Revo while the other was driving a motorcycle. Recovered from the slain suspects was a cal-.38 revolver. On the other hand, the suspect driving the Revo managed to elude arrest, and ditched the vehicle near Quasi Street in Zone 1 in Taguig City – but not before hitting and damaging several motorcycles and tricycles while fleeing from police. - RSJ/LBG, GMANews.TV
