Suspected killer of Laguna town mayor falls - report

A suspect in the killing of a mayor in Laguna province five years ago was arrested in Quezon province Sunday noon, a radio report said. Radio dzXL reported Sunday night that Laguna and Quezon police served a warrant of arrest on Daniel Yason for the killing of Sta. Rosa Mayor Leon Arcillas in May 2005. Yason was arrested at 12:20 p.m. at Greenville Subdivision in Ayuti village in Lucban town, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Biñan, Laguna Judge Teodoro Solis. He faces charges of direct assault and murder. Investigation showed three assailants shot dead Arcillas and bodyguard PO2 Erwin Rivera in the Sta. Rosa Municipal Trial Court building in May 2005. Two other security aides were wounded in the shooting. Arcillas had just officiated a mass wedding of 20 couples in the area when he was shot. - KBK, GMANews.TV
