Family of 4 killed in Cotabato City fire - report

Four people, including two children, died in a fire that hit a building in Cotabato City before dawn Wednesday. A GMA News Flash Report identified the fatalities as Johnson We; his wife Haydee; daughter Kim Patricia, 8; and son John Lorenzo, 6. The victims died due to suffocation, the television report said.

The same report said the children’s grandmother and their househelper survived the incident. The fire gutted the building located along Sinsuat Avenue about 4 a.m. Chief Inspector Adam Guiamad, Cotabato City Fire Marshall, said they were able to contain the fire some five minutes after the victims' driver reported the incident to them. No other establishments were affected by the fire. Guiamad said they are still investigating the cause of the fire. - Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMANews.TV
