Athlete from Mindoro killed in Palawan road accident

One athlete was killed while four others were injured after a jeep they were riding fell into a ravine in Palawan province, Radio dzBB reported Monday. The incident occurred in barangay Tagabinet in Puerto Princesa City on Sunday while the athletes were on their way to the Underground River, a popular tourist destination about two hours away from the city proper. The fatality and the four injured athletes, who were not immediately named, were representing Mindoro Occidental province in the Regional Athletic Association meet held in Palawan. Initial investigation showed that the driver of the jeep lost control of the vehicle, which fell into the ravine.
