Buy-out accusations against me form part of pattern, Villar says
By AMITA LEGASPI, GMANews.TV
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur - Nacionalista Party standard bearer Senator Manuel Villar Jr. said accusations leveled against him now form part of a pattern, after various opponents have alleged that he would do anything to win the presidency, including buying out a contender. In an interview with GMANews.TV, Villar expects more allegations to be thrown his way as election campaigning hits fever pitch. "Wala namang nakakagulat dyan, in fact me pattern na nga. Asahan pa natin mas maraming ganyan ang lalabas kaya hindi ko na pinapansin...marami pa yan hanggang Mayo hindi titigil yan," he said. (That is not surprising. In fact, a pattern is already emerging. Let us expect similar accusations to come out. This is why I don’t pay much attention to them. It won’t stop until May.) The senator refused to put much attention regarding the allegations because he knows where they are coming from — his rivals. He reiterated his warning to his opponents not to believe anyone who will say that they are his emissaries. On Tuesday, Bagumbayan presidential bet Senator Richard Gordon accused Villar of trying to buy him off the race. [See: Gordon says Villar tried to buy him out of race] Then on Wednesday, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Liberal Party standard bearer Senator Benigno Simeon Aquino in separate interviews said Gordon's accusation is not impossible. Independent candidate Nicanor Perlas added his voice to the fray, during radio dzBB’s “Ikaw na ba? The Presidential Interview." During the program, Perlas said that two rivals offered to buy him out of the race. In a separate interview with GMANews.TV, NP senatorial candidate and spokesman Gilbert Remulla scored Aquino for saying that Villar’s alleged bribe attempt was not within “the realm of the impossible." “Noynoy has a poor judgment of character and would be unfit for the presidency for him to assume that we could do something like that," he said. Remulla said Aquino should just comment on his platform, his ability to lead and his experience “rather than trying to disperse the reputation of others by making pure baseless assumptions." “I don’t know what he's smoking but he is definitely hallucinating and making a poor judge of character. Me pattern yung accusations. Parang may kumukumpas, may nagtuturo sa kanila ng kanta pero puro out of tune yung kanta so I don't know why are they all saying the same tune but definitely it is out of tune," the former Cavite representative said.
