Mild earthquake hits Leyte province


A mild earthquake rocked parts of Leyte province in Eastern Visayas at dawn on Sunday, but state seismologists said there was no report of casualty or damage. Radio dzBB’s Carlo Mateo cited initial reports from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology putting the quake magnitude at 3.5 and recording it at 5:14 a.m. Its epicenter was located 31 kilometers from Ormoc City, and was felt at Intensity 2 in the towns of Capoocan and Leyte. Phivolcs also cited initial reports showing the tremor had also been felt in Ormoc City. — GMANews.TV
