Kris apologizes to Ruffa

Television celebrity Kris Aquino apologized to her co-host Ruffa Gutierrez on Monday for making remarks during their talk show over the weekend that prompted the latter to walk out of the set. In a series of SMS messages to PEP editor Jo-ann Maglipon, Kris said she never meant to hurt Ruffa, her The Buzz co-host, who is transferring to another TV station. "I would like to extend a loving hug to Ruffa. I viewed the tape and although I still feel I gave my comment with affection, maybe it made her feel even worse because she's now moving in a new direction. We had what I believed was a good working relationship in the almost 2 years we were together on The Buzz," Kris said. "To Ruffa, I sincerely apologize for causing you hurt," she added. Gutierrez walked out of the show's set Sunday after she was supposedly hurt by some statements Kris made regarding her transfer to TV 5.

Arrogant Interviewed by Showbiz Central minutes after the walkout, Gutierrez's mother Annabelle Rama, admitted that she asked Ruffa to leave the live set of The Buzz due to the alleged hostile treatment her daughter was getting from Kris . Calling Kris arrogant, Rama appealed to the public not to vote for Kris' brother, presidential aspirant Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III of the Liberal Party. "Kaya ako'y nananawagan sa taumbayan na huwag niyong iboto si Noynoy, kasi hindi pa nga nananalo si Noynoy ay ang yabang-yabang na ni Kris. Akala mo siya na ang may-ari ng showbiz," Rama said. (I urge the public not to vote for Noynoy because he’s still only a candidate and yet his sister already acts as if she owns showbiz.) Kris said she respects Rama's views, adding that people were free to make their own choice for president. "As a woman, and as Ruffa's mom and the lola of Lorin and Venice, I respect you Tita Annabelle and on behalf of our family, I apologize for the distress we caused yours," said Kris. "My brother Noynoy would like to add that we live in democracy - where we're very free to make our own choice for president," she said. Willing to go abroad Kris said she is willing to move abroad if she becomes a cause of distress for Noynoy should he win the presidency. "I promised Noy that if he does win, and I'm a cause of distress for him and his Presidency, I'll gladly take my 2 boys to live anywhere there is TFC (The Filipino Channel) so that I can continue to work but with our overseas Filipino brothers and sisters," Kris said. She also said she wishes Ruffa well. "I want Ruffa to have a great career ahead of her because she is a woman, raising two beautiful daughters. And I champion all women who triumph despite the odds — just like my own mom." As of posting time, Rama has declined to comment on Kris' apology. — RSJ/KBK, GMANews.TV
